The Managing Authority and the Joint Secretariat, in collaboration with the Slovenian Info Point, organized the event open to the public “THE INTERREG PROGRAM IN THE CROSS-BORDER AREA BETWEEN ITALY AND SLOVENIA – Projects and experiences of communication through cross-border cooperation programmes” on 27 September 2018 in Nova Gorica (Slovenia) to celebrate the European cooperation day – EC day.
The main part of the event was dedicated to the presentation of standar projects CAB, CONA, EDUKA2, EnergyCare, MobiTour, NAT2CARE, of the two projects for Integrated Territorial Investment (ITI) Isonzo-Soča and Salute-Zdravstvo and of the strategic project CrossMoby, all financed by the Programme Interreg V-A Italy-Slovenia.
The participants had the opportunity to listen directly to the project representatives about the direct experience and the positive effects of the projects for the area along the border.
The morning session ended with the intervention of Ivano Magazzù – Interact, who explained the importance of communicating Interreg projects and programmes and the impact they have on the European level.
In the afternoon the representatives of the European Group for Territorial Cooperation EGTECT GO / EZTS GO, during the cross-border bus tour of the project areas of the ITI project Isonzo-Soča, provided a historical overview of Gorizia and Nova Gorica, two cities divided for years from a border, but deeply linked, also from the point of view of urban planning. The participants reached the Kajak Center in Solkan (Slovenia), where the works of the planned bridge on the river Isonzo were illustrated, which will allow the connection of a circular cycle path connecting Italy and Slovenia.
The visit ended in Piazza Transalpina- Trg Evope, which until 2004 was divided by a border network. The square is unique in Europe: it extends half on Italian soil and half on Slovenian soil. Thanks to the Isonzo-Soča project, the area will be redeveloped from both environmental and tourist point of view.
